Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Math
Location: Utica, NY Category: Academic Posted On: Mon Oct 23 2023 Job Description: SUNY Polytechnic Institute's College of Arts and Sciences Department of Mathematics and Physics invites applications for two positions at the rank of full-time tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Mathematics, starting Fall 2024. The successful applicant will support our existing Applied Mathematics major and minor degree programs and service courses, engage in scholarly research involving undergraduate students, and contribute to the development of an MS in Applied Mathematics with Tracks in Computational Physics and Data Analysis. We are eager to hear from candidates with demonstrated commitment to both teaching and research, and a commitment to cultivating diversity in the university and professional work environment. The area of research is open. We are especially interested in applicants with an active research program from any area of Mathematics and Computational Mathematics. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses including courses offered to students in Science, Engineering and Technology disciplines. The teaching load is three courses per semester (3 or 4 credits each). During the first two years of the appointment, a reduced teaching load to include two classes per semester can be anticipated, with subsequent course reductions available for faculty who are especially active in research and scholarship. Faculty may also use funds from externally-sponsored research programs to reduce their teaching loads. Other responsibilities include contributing to the assessment and continued development of Mathematics courses, and contributing to the University community through committee service and other activities.
