Assistant Controller Summary: Responsible for assisting the Controller and Division President with the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, division financial reporting, adherence to corporate policies and procedures, escrow coordination, payroll calculations, and regional/corporate reporting. Assist in all external reporting, including financial institutions, taxing authorities, owners, and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities Responsible for meeting the timeliness in the monthly financial closing schedule. Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages including joint ventures. Assist in the preparation of community and division level variance analysis, including cost/volume/ profit relationships. Assist with the maintenance and integrity of the division’s JD Edwards financial system setup and related issues. Review and supervise the timely recording and deposit of all divisional cash receipts. Responsible for the preparation of month end closing entries, including maintenance of general ledger accounts and monthly cost of sales. Assist with all governmental reporting including personal and real property taxes. Supervise the processing of manual checks. (Earnest Money Refunds, Misc. Customer refunds, monthly rent check requests, etc.) Responsible for calculating commissions and quarterly field bonuses. Responsible for payroll submissions and all related entries. Assist in the coordination of annual and divisional audits Responsible for the division’s adherence to corporate policies and procedures. Assist in management of escrow coordination duties with mortgage, outside title and Lennar sales team. Complete various projects assigned by the Division Controller. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Seven (7) years minimum accounting/finance experience Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in accounting and finance Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting with the emphasis on job costing, and a background in income tax and real estate law A background in real estate development is preferable Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Good language skills, both written and oral Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions Able to work independently with minimal supervision Proficiency with various computer hardware, software and accounting systems that are used in the real estate industry. JDEdwards accounting system experience desirable Valid driver’s license Accept constructive feedback Team player Physical Requirements: This is primarily a sedentary office position, which requires the ability occasionally to bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry office supplies and materials weighing 25 pounds or less. Finger dexterity required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. Must be able to operate motor vehicle. Requires the ability to work in excess of eight hours per day on occasion. General Overview of Compensation: The *median base compensation for this position is estimated to be $122,774/annual, subject to adjustment based on business-related factors including employee qualifications, geographic location, and operational considerations. Note: *The median amount may be greater or less than the average salary. This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses as determined in the Company’s sole discretion. This position will be eligible for the described benefits listed in the above section.
