The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching and administrating Albion College’s Volleyball Program. This includes (but not limited to) film break down, conditioning, technique training, mental preparation, and game plan preparation. In addition, the position also works closely with Admissions in recruiting students. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with sensitivity and confidentiality. Albion College is an anti-racist institution. Education and Experience:  

Bachelor’s degree required; or ability to obtain a Bachelor's degree within first two years of employment 1 to 2 years of experience coaching at the varsity high school level or higher; or 4 to 5 years of combined experience as a NCAA athlete or student manager and competitive coach    

 

Essential Job Functions:

Instructs and develops student athletes through sport-specific conditioning, technique training, mental preparation, and competition preparation. Breakdown film on opponents and be able to provide scouting reports. Serve as position coach. Provide guidance to student-athletes regarding their overall and academic success. Participate in fundraising opportunities for the program and department. Develop and execute a recruiting plan for a specific geographic region to identify, attract, matriculate and retain outstanding student-athletes to the college. Know the up-to-date sport regulations, rule changes, and NCAA policies. Respond to all appropriate correspondence, email, phone calls, and administrative deadlines. Attend all staff/coaches meetings, events, and functions assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. Fulfill all compliance requirements. Participate in alumni, promotional and public relations needs for the program. Promote safety and ethical conduct of the team. Positively contribute to the Athletic Department. Secondary non-coaching responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics. May include game management, administrative functions, providing transportation for other teams, etc.
