Audiologist
Job Summary Responsible for administration and direct application of audiology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician. Evaluates and treats all patients referred for audiology treatments. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society within the constraints of their disability. Assures personal competency. Provides departmental and nursing staff instruction on aspects of audiology. Provides information related to departmental budget, considerations in relationship to audiology needs for optimum patient care and service. Participates in infection control, safety and education programs, both in the department and on an organizational basis. Regulatory Requirements Holds Masters Degree in Audiology or a Doctorate Degree in Audiology Current State Audiology License Demonstrates competency in program development and aural rehabilitation. One or more years clinical and hearing aid dispensing experience. Must obtain BLS certification through the American Heart Association within 6 months from the date of hire. Performance of technical skills related to Audiology. Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique and related impact on rehabilitative medicine practice and equipment. Language Skills Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Documents diagnostic findings and generate timely reports to physician and others as requested by patient. Skills Knowledge of equipment utilized in the diagnosis, evaluations and treatment of hearing disorders. Must be able to determine age-appropriate patient procedures and evaluate results. Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively during crisis situations (i.e., Code Blue) Appropriate telephone communication skills.
