To learn more about our Fair Employment practices, please refer to the Nabors Code of Conduct. **JOB SUMMARY** Nabors is seeking a motivated Scientist to join our rapidly growing Energy Transition Solutions Department. This is a hands-on role requiring a working knowledge of battery development, supercapacitors and/or photovoltaic cells. The ideal candidate will be multidisciplinary with a background in chemistry, electrochemistry, material science and/or chemical engineering. This individual will be working with one-of-a-kind nanomaterials, only available at Nabors, which are expected to be the next generation of break through materials. This is an interdisciplinary position requiring a willingness to investigate novel ideas in a dynamic environment with other scientists and engineers. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Scaleup materials for battery anodes and cathodes. + Prepare novel structured materials for anodes, cathodes and separators in traditional lithium-ion batteries as well as novel state of the art solid state devices. + Build and test coin cells, pouch cells and cylinders utilizing carbon nanomaterials. + Apply control and variable experimental process. + Evaluate new materials for quality, material characteristics, performance and reliability. + Assist with other electrochemical investigations into supercapacitors, electrolysis and photovoltaic cells. + Maintain accurate records of research, prepare reports and present results. + Research new techniques, scientific articles and patents. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS** + Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, material science or engineering. + At least 2 years in a laboratory or research and development setting. + Some basic experience with making and testing batteries or other electrochemical cells. + Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. + Ability to work independently and as a team player. + Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management. + Capable of multi-tasking and working on several projects simultaneously. + Able to follow written protocols with attention to details. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Graduate degree in chemistry, material science, engineering or related physical science field with at least 2 years of hands-on battery development experience. + Previous experience working with nanomaterials and/or batteries. + Knowledge and experience in evaluating material properties, including cathode, anode, electrolytes, slurry processing, cell assembly and/or cycle testing of batteries and supercapacitors. + Familiarity with analytical techniques such as TGA, Raman, FTIR, XRD, EIS and EM. + Demonstrated initiative and ability to handle multiple tasks. + Ability to flourish as part of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers. + Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to work independently and in a team environment. **BEHAVIORAL COMPENTENCIES** + An appreciation and commitment to safety and quality. + Solid comprehensive problem-solving skills. + Naturally curious about new technology and willingness to learn. + Innovative team player. + Ability to maintain accurate records. **TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES** + Chemistry, physical chemistry, electrochemistry and or material science. + Working understanding of experimental design. + Organized and self-managed. + Prepare technical reports of results. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS** + The primary location for this position is an office/laboratory environment. + Able to lift 20 lbs. **Job:** _HUMAN RESOURCES_ **Title:** _Battery Development Scientist_ **Location:** _United States Of America-Texas-Houston-(Nabors Corporate Services) Houston Office_ **Requisition ID:** _2400006B_
