Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Behavior Technician for the Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS). Under the direction of and frequent supervision of a Behavior Analyst or Director, the behavior technician for the Intensive Outpatient Clinic (IOC) at the RCAAS provides direct service to individuals with autism across the areas of behavior reduction and skill acquisition goals. The position follows strict parameters to ensure the safety, engagement, habilitative outcomes, through basic supportive learning techniques.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Helps patients with activities to ensure engagement using detailed procedures. Provides direct care to adults with autism under the supervision of the behavior analyst as it relates to patient care (e.g., assisting with meals and activities of daily living; ADLs) and admission goals (reducing severe problematic behavior and increasing replacement/adaptive skills). Follows written protocol to ensure safety and success on and off site, regarding interactions with third party individuals. Ensures individuals are safe and/or requests are handled in a timely manner and notifies supervisor of issues beyond ability to resolve. Chaperones individuals to daily activities. Conducts routine activities (recreational etc.) utilizing behavioral procedures under struct parameters under the frequent supervision of a credentialed supervisor (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). Under the supervision of a behavior analyst, uses behavioral data to apply a systematic process of data-based decision making in the monitoring of progress in relation to program participant skill acquisition and behavioral reduction goals, subject to frequent review and strict parameters.
