Position Summary

Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Buyer/Planner coordinates activities involved with purchasing goods and services such as raw materials for the location by performing the following duties:

Reviewing requisitionsConferring with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery scheduleSelecting products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining itemsEstimating values according to knowledge of market priceDetermining method of procurement such as direct purchase or bidPreparing purchase orders or bid requestsReviewing bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authorityMaintaining procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventoriesDiscussing defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective actionApproving invoices for paymentExpediting delivery of goods to usersOther duties as assigned Requirements

Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or comparable discipline and 3 years related work experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  ERP/MRP experience required.  Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
