This position provides comprehensive services related to prevention, identification, assessment and management of disorders of auditory and balance systems. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities Determines appropriate audiometric tests and assesses hearing status.Counsels patients or families regarding audiometric test results, hearing loss, intervention, and rehabilitation.Recommends and coordinates referrals.Documents hearing assessment results.Maintains and calibrates department equipment used for evaluation.May evaluate patient need for a hearing device. Determines type of device.May fit, program and maintain hearing equipment.Performs sound level measurements of areas within the hospital and clinics when necessary.Leads in-services or instruction for medical staff.Records and submits billing information for services and sales.May develop reports and maintain department program information.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesAbility to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.Knowledge of evaluating and treating hearing disorders by determining the appropriate testing and providing intervention techniques, hearing aids, aural habilitation or rehabilitation.Ability to provide care as defined by licensure and refers to another health care professional when beyond the scope of training.Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual. Qualifications Qualifications Licenses RequiredCurrent RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.Current licensure in Audiology from the State of Utah.* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Qualifications (Preferred) PreferredAdditional experience and training may be required in specialty areas.Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care. This position must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discrimination in sound.
