The OHSU Department of Surgery is comprised of nine integrated yet independent surgery divisions: Abdominal Organ Transplantation, Bariatric, Cardiothoracic, Gastrointestinal and General, Pediatric, Plastic and Reconstructive, Oncology, Trauma and Acute Care and Vascular Surgery. Our department is built on a culture of community and a history of innovative and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our faculty are dedicated to excellence in education, research, scholarship and clinical practice. We also house one of the largest general surgery residency programs in the country and offer surgery fellowships in all of our disciplines. This position supports the Department of Surgery and its divisions. This person will assist investigators and research administrators with submitting protocols, modifications, and continuing reviews to the IRB. Submissions will be for investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies. This person will also assist with submissions to any external regulatory bodies such as central IRBs, OHRO, and the State IRB. Primary divisions include Bariatric Surgery, Abdominal Organ Transplant, and Plastic Surgery, but may include other divisions as needed. 


This position will also support investigator-initiate studies requiring a REDCap database. This person will work with investigators and research teams across the department on the initial build and maintenance of REDCap databases. 


This position may help support data abstraction from the electronic health record and completion of subject study visits as needed.  

Function/Duties of Position

IRB submissions (initial, modifications, continuing reviews, RNIs) for investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies. Includes preparing documents as needed for these submissions. Includes submissions as needed for external regulatory bodies.

 Build and maintain REDCap databases for investigator-initiated studies.

Assist with study data abstraction from the electronic health record and completion of subject study visits as needed.

Other administrative duties as assigned.
