CNC Programmers use software to create and edit saved programs used to cut parts out of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum on CNC laser cutting machines.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

At all times safety is the top priority while performing any part of your job. Understand and follow verbal and written instructions provided by Production Supervisor. Read and comprehend basic blueprints. Analyzes drawings to verify that programmed part revision matches the current drawing revision and updates saved programs as needed to maintain alignment of revisions. Analyzes drawings to program material type and thickness. Nests programed parts onto standard sheet sizes to optimize material utilization. Creates programs for CNC punch including tool selection. Other duties as assigned.


What you will need to be successful

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read blueprints. Computer literacy and an understanding of CNC machine tools and their operation. Ability to use AX to solve part issues, changes, updates and research and close ECO implementation tasks. Ability to work with upstream and downstream customers, engineers, drafters, fabrication technicians and welders to solve issues due to changes or errors in parts, programs or drawings. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to convert standard to metric or use conversion software.
