Continuous Improvement Manager

Hexcel is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA, Matrix location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Identify and execute projects that target improvements to key plant metrics: safety, quality, cycle time, improved throughput, on-time delivery, and efficiency.Analyze and develop plans to improve workflow, space, and labor utilization and design equipment layout and work space for maximum efficiency.While operating in the boundaries of Lean Principles, lead, guide, and direct lean implementation and training initiatives, including 6S, TPM, Kaizen, Flow Manufacturing, JIT, SMED, Kanban, and Rapid Improvement Workshops.Responsible for the content of the hourly training checklists.Responsible for developing the training plans/programs for employee development including RCCA, Mistake Proofing, Internal Auditing and Leadership Development.Responsible for Six Sigma program including, but limited to, identify candidates for training, mentor greenbelt candidates, coordinate training, monitor certificate projects for completion, and represent the site on the Master Board.Manage and develop current and future state Value Steam Maps (VSP’s).Lead the implementation of the seven pillars of the Hexcel Operating System:6S and FOD Control, Right First Time, Operator Maintenance, Production Planning, Continuous Improvement/Lean, Steering Team, Training and Development.Coordinate the summer ‘Make Better’ program including identifying projects and overseeing the students.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical degree is required.Minimum five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience with Lean Six Sigma manufacturing, SMED, visual workplace management, required.Black Belt Certification in LEAN/DMAIC/DFSS methodologies from an accredited company or school, required.Strong leadership and has the ability to influence and work with all levels of the organization.Excellent written, verbal communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project and similar project training software, and power point.Experience with Minitab and AutoCAD, a plus.Good math and analytical skills including a working knowledge of statistical techniques (SPC, SQC, DOE).Ability to analyze and resolve process issues.
