Job Title: Automation Technician, of Manufacturing Technology\n

FLSA Status: Exempt\n

Reports to: Production Manager, Pembroke Div293\n
\n

As an Automation Technician, you will perform maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC controlled equipment, hydraulic press, vacuum based end-effector, and conveyors to produce wood structures. You will perform preventive maintenance on the equipment including periodic calibration. You will learn the programmability aspect of each machine using specified HMI prompts and train machine operators on their use. You will lead all communications with supplier OEMs to troubleshoot downtimes and order spare parts. Functional experience with woodworking CNC equipment, PLC Programs, HMI's, robotics, and networking. Ability to debug complex machinery applications. \n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities \n\nAttend training classes to learn about the operational and maintenance of purchased equipment.\nSetup and operate a large automated system to produce wood parts and structures.\nWorking knowledge of air-controlled systems including vacuum pumps.\nWorking knowledge of hydraulic presses.\nProgram and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs.\nTroubleshoot gantry-based pick and place mechanisms.\nRead and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.\nOperate HMI screens for a variety of equipment and train operators on usage modes.\nCommunicate with suppliers and guide their technicians to resolve breakdowns and downtimes.\nPerform minor repairs on equipment. \nPerform and record preventive maintenance on all equipment using state of the art CMM program for traceability.\nManage equipment spare parts.\nWork with suppliers to perform annual maintenance requirements.\nBuild maintenance area, workbenches and acquire necessary tools to perform required repairs. \n\n

Qualifications \n\nAssociate degree in mechatronics, robotics, or CNC equipment, or equivalent\n4 years of manufacturing or relevant electrical experience \nFamiliarity with common controls hardware components used in high volume manufacturing.\nFunctional knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI\/RIA15.06, OSHA).\nFunctional knowledge in lock-out-tag-out procedures.\nFunctional knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric Code, UL508A)\nExperience in troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs.\nExperience in troubleshooting industrial 6-axis Fanuc robots.\nExperience troubleshooting common fieldbus networks such as Ethernet\/IP, EtherCAT, or Profinet.\nKnowledge of communications between machine PLCs and database systems for data tracking.\n\n
