Counselor II

To provide psychiatric rehabilitation services within a psychiatric rehabilitation program with primary emphasis on providing comprehensive, quality, cost effective mental health services to the adult chronically mentally ill consumer, often with histories of long term hospitalizations. To ensure that all consumers receive the level of and/or have access to the services/support they need to choose, get and keep their participation in vocational or community based activities. Interacts with consumers, families, other agency staff and treatment staff to provide a support system that will reduce the frequency and intensity of regression and to maximize the consumers’ achievement potential and their quality of life. Performs duties in support of the Medical Center mission to ensure the highest quality of patient care in an economically sound and efficient manner.

Education and Training:

Bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Rehabilitation related field and 2-3 years’ experience in the M-1/MR field or any combination of experience, education or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required and meets applicable funding source requirements.

·         Good communication skills both oral and written.

·         Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

·         Knowledge of mental health system and supports.

Registration, Licensure and/or Certification:

Valid driver's license required

CPR preferred

Certified RPRP or CPRP. Must be obtained within 24 months of employment.
