Jewish Hospital and Clermont Hospital

This role oversees the operational flow of the oncology & blood cancer center nursing service line, including but not limited to: strategic operations, resource management, program planning, marketing and development, financial planning and budget oversight, quality improvement, and supervision/growth of management staff in accordance with all professional, regulatory, and accreditation standards; ensures quality patient care through relationship development with physicians, regional and site leaders, vendors, family members, community members and patients. 

Essential Job Functions

Strategic Management:

Oversees the 24/7 operational flow of patient care service linesActualizes processes to ensure departmental compliance with all professional, local, state, national, and Joint Commission standardsDevelops strategies to ensure a positive customer experience for patients, families and physiciansDevelops and ensures compliance with relevant policies, procedures and standards of careRepresents services line at site and regional meetings, including medical staff meetings, interdisciplinary committees, and senior leadership meetingsPartners with leadership on annual growth strategy including community and professional outreach and education.  Oversight of new oncology specific program design, implementation, development and monitoring.

Financial Management:

Actively partners with senior site and regional leadership in preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, reflecting an understanding of strategic initiatives and financial goals of Mercy HealthAnalyzes and balances mission and reimbursement in order to manage service lines in accordance with approved budgetary guidelinesDirects, adjusts and continuously evaluates labor resources for all areasWorks with revenue cycle and supply chain specialists to maintain knowledge of current regulatory guidelines to optimize reimbursement for procedure technical components and resource procurement.  

HR Leadership Skills/Management:

Develops, guides, mentors and provides continuous feedback to managers, supervisors and front line staff to promote a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, education, empowerment, recognition and stimulates innovative thinking; collaborates with Human Resources to identify and influence issues related to organizational health and employee engagementConducts annual and ongoing appraisal of managers’ performanceLeads regular meetings with management team and fosters environment for effective communication and continued growth.

Performance Improvement:

Monitors and assesses quality within the oncology and blood cancer center service line through use of total quality management, outcomes monitoring and patient satisfaction indicatorsDevelops expectations for customer service and educates and measures managers on outcomes of serviceServes as a liaison between physicians and service line administration to ensure positive patient outcomes and experiencesIncorporates rounding into regular activitiesLeads interdisciplinary teams to identify and improve patient care processes.Utilizes research driven best practice to ensure highest level of patient care quality.  Oversight of oncology and blood cancer center specific accreditation processes.

Job Requirements

Graduate Degree (Masters) in Nursing or related fieldBSN required if no higher level nursing degree heldFive years of progressive clinical management experience requiredDemonstrated leadership, organization skills and effective communication skillsCurrent nursing license in the State of OhioBLS requiredCertification in specialty area or leadership within 6 months of eligibilityMany of our opportunities reward* your hard work with:
