Job Summary:
Under the direction of a registered sonographer, responsible for performing Echocardiography and peripheral vascular
ultrasound procedures on an inpatient and outpatient population in accordance with standard policies and procedures.
Testing includes, but is not limited to, transthoracic echo, transesophageal echo, stress echo, carotid duplex studies, venous
duplex studies and arterial physiologic and duplex studies. Permitted to change patient from portable O2 to wall O2.


Education

Graduate of a Diagnostic Ultrasound Program.

Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Must obtain one of the following within one year of graduation: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Registered
Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Must
obtain other credential within one year of obtaining the initial credential. Act 33/73 clearances and Healthcare Provider CPR

Experience
⚬ Minimum:
Clinical rotation through educational program.
⚬ Preferred:
One year experience as an Echocardiographer or Peripheral Vascular Tech.

I. Specific Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Under the direction of a registered sonographer, performs transthoracic echo and TEE according to departmental policy and
procedure, while demonstrating comprehensive information on cardiac anomaly and pathology or under the direction of a
registered sonographer, performs arterial evaluations, venous duplex ultrasound, and cerebrovascular ultrasound evaluation
according to departmental guidelines and in accordance with ICAVL standards.

of the cardiac anatomy or demonstrates comprehensive understanding of peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology and
