JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate will be expected to support the UVA Community Health camera and access control systems which provides electronic access control, ID card production, camera and other related services to team members. Primary responsibilities and duties include:

Using vendor supplied software to program and configure card readers and associated controls, with an emphasis on maintenance and support of electronic access controls, cameras, and badge production. Perform daily uploads from Oracle into Access control system Perform daily system checks to make sure access controls and cameras are online and functioning properly. Monitor access log for unauthorized access attempts Maintain a log of all the access control panels, readers, and boards. Creating and managing tiered access control assignments. Performing advanced troubleshooting of electronic access controls and door hardware and providing support and training to other controls technicians. Perform weekly backup of files from Access control system Audit access control to have the most update roster of active employees Assist with troubleshooting issues with Kronos and Swisslog, providing the needed information to the vendors to make sure team members cards are in the system. Create/make and update badges for new hires and team members across the UVA Community Health footprint. Provide access reports to leaders of sensitive areas. Take all new hire photos for their badge Contact Vendors for access or door issues Monitoring the system during non-business hours for proper operation and responding to issues as they arise. Providing support to team members after hours with access issues.

Communications: Communicates effectively with all levels of hospital staff and visitors. 

Greets and assists visitors to the department.   Answers all incoming telephone calls and provides accurate information as needed.   Attends assigned meetings, records minutes, and maintains meeting attendance records.  Confers with individuals with varying levels of IT competencies on problems, features, or limitations associated with computer equipment and software.  Serves as IT instructor for groups of individuals at entry to advanced levels using various methods to explain and convey information.   Persuades management to take action on IT trends and potential problems that affect present or projected condition and operation. 

Administration and Event Management: Ensures the administration and smooth running of departmental business. 

Maintains calendars for executives and leaders.  Maintains an organized filing system to easily access information as needed.   Arranges and provides operational support for meetings and/or events, as well as conferences, conference calls, and video conferences.  Plans and coordinate travel arrangements as needed. 

Financial Management: Works with staff and vendors to collect and submit invoices.  

Collects invoices for department services, if applicable.   Files Expense Reports.  Submits requests for disbursement to Accounts Payable. 

Supplies Management: Works with suppliers and vendors to ensure that the department has the required supplies on hand.  

Orders supplies and maintain inventory for department.  Completes requisitions and sends to Purchasing Department or vendor.  Receives and distributes supplies. 

Security Liaison: Coordinates employee access to organizational facilities and resources.  

Processes requests for employee access in a timely manner.   Maintains access records on each employee for compliance standards.   Terminates accesses that are no longer needed. 

Quality Control: Protects information systems and data by ensuring their availability, authentication, confidentiality, and integrity.

Establishes audit policy and reporting mechanisms for ensuring compliance with IT standards.  Anticipates problems and develops/implements strategic alternate models to solve technological problems or requirements. 

IT Expertise: Maintains up-to-date knowledge on professional and technical aspects of the job.  

Understands and applies knowledge of IT concepts to secure organizational data.   Complies with IT assurance standards, practices, and procedures to perform routine operations.  Develops and administers policies, procedures, and standards to ensure desired levels of enterprise-wide information assurance. 

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Education in basic office procedures preferred.

Experience: 4 years of experience commissioning, troubleshooting, programming, and installing electronic control systems required. Experience as an electronic access control or electronic security technician preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure: N/A

Additional Skills/Requirements Required: The successful candidate shall have recognized access control or security industry certification or successful completion of two or more access control or security vendor development courses or ability to obtain certification or complete required training within the probationary period. 

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Strengths in writing and editing, with ability to learn and follow writing style standards and guides. Detail oriented with ability to manage projects as assigned toward desired deadlines and outcomes.
