Employment Development Specialist
Position Summary: In this position, the employee will actively job develop, coach, mentor, and counsel approximately 30 individuals at a time with disabilities or disadvantages to being placed and be successful in employment. The employee will network with local employers to establish and tailor jobs for the individuals served by MVLE. The employee will also network with referral sources and new referral sources to increase the number of persons supported throughout the year. Must maintain monthly billable hours. Education: Bachelor’s degree or college-level courses in Human Services, Behavior Management, Psychology, or a related field is preferred . Certified as WIPA/ WISA/ in Virginia or Maryland or certified to do Ticket to Work is highly preferred. Experience: Two - four years of experience working with persons with disabilities in a vocational, residential, or recreational program, or from extensive, relevant personal involvements is required. Customer service and sales experience preferred. A valid driver’s license with fewer than -6 points is required. Two - four years of experience working directly with DOL, Medicaid, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and CARF regulations is required. Experience in behavioral training, placement, and recruiting for individuals with disabilities is preferred. Must be a US Citizen to pass and maintain the required clearances and be able to enter secure government facilities . Certified as WIPA/ WISA/ in Virginia or certified to do Ticket to Work is highly preferred. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES : + Employment Development: Responsible for working with employers to create jobs for individuals. Responsible for meeting with employers at least twice a month or as needed to evaluate service delivery and address problems related to service delivery. + Training: Provide appropriate training, coaching, and support to individuals regarding appropriate work attitudes, work skills, specific individual service delivery, and other duties as needed to help them perform in their position. Collaborate with other Employment Development Specialists on job development and creating goals for individuals, and improving individuals’ service and employment outcomes. Develop and teach a competency-based employment curriculum. Provide disability awareness training to employers, staff, and clients, including the Ability One site. + Case Management: Responsible for individual case management documentation, including intakes, situational assessments, and monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Responsible for data keeping in relation to outcome measures. Attend individual meetings and coordinate schedules with the other members of the program services team. Responsible for maintaining documentation for billing and auditing and maintenance of client records. Manage Ticket to Work program including referrals, documentation, job development, retention, and billing. Ongoing effective communication with referral sources and businesses is key to success. Completion of all required billing reports per funder requirements is essential. + Liaison: Establish and maintain positive liaison roles with employers, individuals, and families. Serve as liaison with Human Resources, staff, and external and internal candidates with disabilities. + Benefits Planning: Able to recruit, work with, and bill for Ticket to Work or benefits planning through WISA/ WICA certifications. Must maintain all records in compliance with governing bodies.
