Position Description
The function of the EMS Academy Supervisor is to provide manage the operation of AHA and other classes conducted by the Ground Transportation Department. This individual will schedule, coordinate, instruct and ensure that all CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, Advanced Airway and all other such classes are provided to members of Inspira and outside agencies or the public. The EMS Academy Supervisor will also be known as the Clinical Educator for coordination of Paramedic Students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency. Associates Degree or higher. 3 years' experience as a NJ certified MICU Paramedic, or MICN. AHA Instructor certifications in ACLS, CPR and PALS. No performance improvement plan for 2 or more years, no discipline for 1 or more years. Must Pass Evaluation. Instructor certification in one or more of the following NAEMT Courses; PHTLS, GEMS, AMLS, TECC preferred. Instructor certification by ASHI preferred. ICS, EVOC, EVOC, preferred. NJ certified MICU Paramedic.
Position Responsibilities
•Clinical Educator for Paramedic Students. •Coordinates with ALS manager and Clinical Director for Field Training Officers (FTO) for paramedic students. •40% of work managing training center operations and managing employee and nonemployee instructors. •20% of work instructing, managing, coordinating provider training programs. •15% of work paramedic students. •10% of work providing instructor development, conducting instructor programs and mentoring, monitoring instructors. •8% of work maintaining training equipment, delivering supplies and equipment as needed. •5% of work other assigned duties, projects, committees. •2% of work covers instructor callouts when required. •Conducts all programs within prescribed EMS Academy budget. •Assists in the development of the EMS Academy budget. •Facilitates the ordering of needed supplies and materials. •Ensure that certifications are issued within appropriate timeframes. •Maintains appropriate records as required to be a training center with the certifying agency, including records of all affiliated instructors. •Provides needed updates, bulletins, and changes in curriculum, procedures, guidelines or science to the affiliated instructors. •Ensures compliance with policies and procedures to resolve complaints or problems related to the EMS Academy or courses sponsored by the EMS Academy. •Provide monthly, quarterly and annual training classes for all employees and students. •Maintain accurate time attendance records for Instructor payment, recertification and conducts regular evaluations of part time/per diem instructors. •Produces monthly report to the Ground Transportation Director identifying the financial status of Inspira EMS Academy Training Center and upcoming events/trainings. •Knowledge of state OEMS regulations and hospital policies. •Develops a working knowledge of American Heart Association (AHA) policies, and procedures.
