Executive Director, Data Platform and Architecture

Job Summary We are hiring an Executive Director to lead a global team of ~80 professionals to deliver customer-facing data and analytics capabilities, advance existing infrastructure by adopting cloud-native solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, etc.), and create innovative features by leveraging ML/AI. The ideal candidate shall have a solid track record in delivering enterprise data solutions while providing their teams with strategic leadership and executive oversight. The ideal candidate shall have hands-on experience delivering enterprise data lakes (Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi, etc.), data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, etc.), ETL framework and processes (Databricks, DBT, etc.), and BI/Analytic applications (custom-built applications, Looker, Tableau, etc.). In this role, you will manage a double-digit million-dollar budget, work with engineering, product teams, and customers (both internal and external) to define business objectives, craft execution plans, and be responsible for delivery on time and within budget. This position will report to VP2 of Data Platform at FreeWheel and is based in Reston, Virginia, with an expectation of 2-3 days in office, hybrid structure. Job Description Responsibilities + Creates, defines, and drives organizational strategies and execution plans. + Partners with the product management teams to engage internal and external customers, define product roadmap based on customers’ needs and pain points. + Establish concrete execution plans and release schedules to deliver the roadmap on time and within budget. + Establishes and improves mechanisms to ensure operational and cost transparency and data quality. + Identifies, evaluates, and recommends software and solutions that enable FreeWheel to work with Petabytes of data per day quickly and economically. + Communicates and establishes relationships with vendors and other functional areas of the business. + Provides leadership and mentorship to team members to ensure their professional and career growth. + Works with architects and partners with product management teams across platforms and departments to influence decisions on architecture and product directions. + Responsible for operation budget, strive to do more with less while making investment recommendations when opportunities arise. + Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.  + Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.  + Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: + 10 years or more experience in managing data engineering teams as leader-of-leaders, with 5+ years managing teams of 50+. + Experiences in building enterprise data and analytics platforms + Experience in leveraging data products, solutions, and services (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Atlan, Monte Carlo, etc.) to deliver and modernize data technology stack and infrastructure. + Effective speaking and writing skill (will ask for sample writing) + Preferred but optional, understanding online video business, the TV and cable industry and the challenges facing both the industry, content owners and distributors.
