Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Exercise Planner to join our team! In this role you will play a crucial role in developing, coordinating, and executing military training exercises to enhance the readiness and effectiveness of United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC). You will work closely with military leaders, various USARPAC staff elements, and external partners to design realistic and challenging scenarios that simulate combat, humanitarian assistance, and other operational environments. Your expertise will contribute to the continuous improvement of training programs and the overall preparedness of USARPAC operations in the Indo-Pacific Command’s (INDOPACOM) area of responsibility (AOR). As an exercise planner, you will work as part of a team of subject matter experts and must be self-motivated, able to produce high quality, doctrinally accurate, and operationally relevant exercise scenarios, and work with the customer to identify program requirements and milestones. Parsons is seeking exercise planners to work closely with our client in Honolulu, HI.

What You'll Be Doing:

Plan, coordinate and execute USARPAC participation in assigned USINDOPACOM Joint Chiefs of Staff and service exercisesDevelop training objectives in conjunction with exercise participants and USARPAC staff stakeholdersDraft and develop realistic threat scenarios, incorporating best-practice inputs from DoD and other agenciesCoordinate and manage exercise development in conjunction with USINDOPACOM and theater service component planners and participantsEnsure USARPAC and component exercises inform the Defense Readiness Reporting System and fully incorporate the Joint Lessons Learned systemAssist in management of JTIMS and other exercise information management systemsEnhance the command's capability to train and prepare for a broad spectrum of threats from real and/or simulated adversariesCoordinate exercise criteria that will test and stress the command's training objectivesConsolidate and draft Exercise Summary Reports (ESR) related to exercise objectives, training objectives, and future design modificationsCoordinate and develop after action reports (AARs) that meet exercise requirementsCONUS and OCONUS travel may be required

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

1+ years’ relevant experience with Masters in related field; 3+ years’ relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 6+ years’ relevant experience High School Diploma or equivalentPrior experience as an exercise planner with the Department of DefenseKnowledge of the Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES)Understanding of the Joint Exercise Lifecycle (JELC) planning processPrevious experience briefing senior leadership to include General Officers, Flag Officers, or Senior Executive Service level decision makersFamiliarity with civil-military operations, humanitarian assistance / disaster response, and peacekeeping operationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to proofread, edit, and finalize written products in support of senior-leader briefingsValid US PassportActive Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS-level clearance, as required by the mission partner


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

Experience as a USARPAC planner, DOD planner or experience with other INDOPACOM service componentPrior military experience at the Component Command levelFormer Army Field Grade Officer or Senior NCO (E8) with exercise planning background highly desiredExperience supporting OCONUS theater operationsPrevious experience with the Army Training Management System (ATMS) and its components Army Training Network (ATN), Unit Training Management (UTM), Digital Training Management System (DTMS), and Combined Arms Training Strategies (CATS)Experience with the Military Decision Making Process

Salary Range: 

$70,500.00 - $168,700.00
