Fleet Net Runner

The Fleet Net Runner will work under the Fleet Net Runner Lead and with the Fleet Office to manage and facilitate the storage and movement of nets, freight, and miscellaneous items to support the Bristol Bay fleet and tenders.  In addition to working cooperatively as a member of the fleet team, they should also be effective in carrying out independent assignments. Strong communication and organizational skills to promptly complete work orders and maintain detailed records. Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy is expected. The expectation should be prepared to work long hours in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

Essential Functions/Qualifications

Communicate with Fleet Management Team and Net Runner Lead for daily assignments.  Assist in the shipping and receiving of all nets, parts, and freight on and off the fishing grounds.Work with Dock crew to safely coordinate freight and parts transfers across the dock, assisting in the maintenance of detailed logs of all movement and location of items.Ensure nets and freight in storage on SBS property are accurately recorded and inventories are updated, working with the Fleet Office to maintain thorough records.Execute work orders, operating heavy equipment in transporting/moving nets and freight as necessary if qualified.General knowledge of Bristol Bay.Uphold standards of professionalism and maintain relationships as a representative of Silver Bay Seafoods within the Bristol Bay Community.Other duties as assigned.

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following functional and interpersonal competencies:

Functional

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to crew members, and other employees of Silver Bay Seafoods. Multi-tasking and time management skills. General knowledge of hand tools is necessary.

Interpersonal

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required; or three to six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Forklift, Boom truck, and Telehandler experience is preferred but not required.Experience with rigging and securing loads for transport is a plus.Must have a valid driver’s license.Forklift, crane and heavy equipment certification is a plus.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.

Mental Activities

The employee needs the ability to multitask in a high-demand environment. They should have great communication skills, reliability, and punctuality. The employee needs to regularly demonstrate attention to detail and strong time-management skills. The employee is required to use creativity, problem-solving, independent judgment, and discretion.
