Fuel Systems Engineer

Under general directions with limited review, this position is responsible for applying innovative approaches to resolving unusual or complex engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and reviewed largely at completion. Initiates the planning of engineering projects and develops innovative designs or modifications in order to meet project goals. Independently performs difficult/complex engineering work with instructions as to the general expected results. Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff, makes technical presentations, and may represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects. Provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESExperience designing fluid systems for aircraft- hydraulic systems or fuel systems.Strong understanding of fluid mechanics principles including pipe flow, line loss, laminar and turbulent flowPrevious experience with fuel system hardware such as solenoids, manifold, common fuel line fittings, valves, and pumpsAbility to use MATLAB, VBA or other coding language to develop fuel burn maps and CG sourcing.Experience with DAQ systemsAbility to spec out test hardware including pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTD’s, flow meters, and accelerometers.Experience with dealing with fuel system CG and/or aircraft CG.Experience in developing aircraft fuel system architectures and schematics.Experience with turbofan/turboprop engines – bonusExperience running the engine customer cycle deck.Develops innovative but practical solutions to advanced technical problems in engineering.Provides focal point for technical communication within the Company management and may represent the Company as the prime technical contact to customers and/or government regulatory agencies.Presents report(s) at engineering meetings, participates in program reviews and consults on problems.Provides expert guidance and consulting to other staff members working on difficult engineering problems.Anticipates future engineering needs and the modifications required to accomplish a technical goal.Addresses complex and difficult technical issues requiring novel and highly creative approaches drawing on advanced engineering concepts.May assume technical and engineering responsibility of the success of an identifiable project.Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions and communicates results to engineering staff.
