Inventory Controls Coordinator

The Inventory Controls Coordinator provides a strong foundation to a business.  He/she is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory control throughout the plant and ensuring proper stock levels are maintained.  He/she works closely with all departments at the facility and plays an integral part in the process by maintaining an organized and cataloged inventory of necessary plant and fleet supplies. 

Essential Functions/Qualifications 

The responsibilities of the position include the following: Submits orders and tracks through IMS system Gathers part orders and local requisitions from plant staff Receives and ships items and parts using a truck, forklift, or flatbed truck Uses maintenance management software for receiving, inventory and PM generation Driving to and from town for local duties multiple times throughout shift Manages local credit card assigning coding to each purchase Prices out materials for onsite Tender and Fisher Vessel work performed by maintenance employees Communicates Tender maintenance costs with Fleet Accountant Manages inventory and parts rooms throughout the facility Enforces sign-in/out system Responsible for cycle counts, restocking orders, organizational systems, receiving orders and stocking in appropriate places, and cataloging each item in our CMMS system Coordinate with plant departments on required stock items and levels Responsible for requisition approval processes at plant level Timely and regular attendance. Other duties as assigned. 

Competencies 
 To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following functional and interpersonal competencies: 

Functional 

Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations, to crew members, and other employees of Silver Bay Seafoods.  Decision making skills as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.  Ability to add/subtract two digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.  Must have knowledge of inventory control and supply chain management.  Excellent verbal and written communication in English is required.  Ability to maintain professional vendor relationships.  Must maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.  Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles.  Computer skills including Excel and word processing programs at a highly proficient level.  The Inventory Controls Coordinator must also be self-motivated and demonstrate a sound work ethic. 

The Inventory Controls Coordinator position requires driven machinery certifications such as a forklift, expeditor truck, or flatbed truck which in turn requires a valid driver’s license. 

Interpersonal 

Education and Experience 

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.  6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Work Environment and Schedule 

The Inventory Controls Coordinator will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.  They will be expected to perform some warehousing duties.  The incumbent is located in a busy office area and is faced with constant interruptions and must meet with different kinds of people on a regular basis.  The Inventory Controls Coordinator makes frequent trips to and from town driving a company vehicle.   

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.  

Mental Activities 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills.  The employee will frequently use interpersonal and customer service skills.  Employee must be able to withstand moderate to high levels of stress.  The employee must spend long hours in intense concentration.
