Lead - Racking (Weekend Shift)

Weekend Shift - Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 5:00am-5:00pm

 

Scope of Responsibility: This position is a working lead and liaison between Sabre Galvanizing leadership and employees who leads the racking department to accomplish specified production goals while working safely and conscientious of quality. This position may serve as the lead for up to 10 employees.

 

Essential Duties:

Oversee the production of 10 employees and manage job orders while completing tasks promptly and safelyRead work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments, material or equipment needsTrain and assess employees’ competencies in the Skill-Based Pay processInspect all material before galvanizing to ensure material meets all Sabre safety & quality guidelines and proceduresEnsure all galvanized products meet Sabre quality requirements, minimize downtime and promote efficiencyCount, weigh or measure products to compare identifying information against bills of lading or work ordersRecord number of units handled or moved using daily production sheets or work ticketsHang steel products up to 75 lbs. on metal hooks, wire or chains and place on the overhead crane either manually or by use of equipmentRemove stencils and grease from steel product prior to it going to the pre-treat areaOperate heavy equipment in racking area, such as forklifts and overhead cranesInspect all lifting equipment prior to use (forklifts, cranes, chains, slings, etc.)Move materials to and from storage or production areas by hand or using forklifts or other equipmentAttach identifying tags to product or mark them with identifying informationPerform housekeeping activities to keep the work area and equipment clean and organized. Enforce established housekeeping standardsAdditional duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management

Position Requirements:

Ability to read, write and speak in English requiredHigh School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferredExperience using forklifts and cranes requiredPrior Galvanizing experience highly preferredPrior leadership experience in a manufacturing facility highly preferredMust be able to maintain a positive and motivational attitude at all timesRegular and timely attendance is requiredAbility to communicate information and ideas so others will understandAbility to plan, organize, pay attention to details and multi-task in a fast-paced work environmentFlexibility to shift back and forth between 2 or more activities

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objectsMust be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, tugging, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling and handling of materials.Position requires manual dexterity, ability to pick/pinch and work with fingers, repetitive motions of wrists/hands/finger, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.Effectively and safely utilizes ladders, manlifts, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.Must be able to work in an open environment for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures, standing entire shiftMust have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sourcesThe worker is required to have visual acuity to make general observations of facilities or structures
