Job Description

Operate various machines in compliance with the corporate mission and values, and department financial objectives.

Essential Functions

Analyze specification charts, samples, and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of the requirementsDevelop a plan of action to manufacture components according to specificationsMeasure and mark raw materials needed to manufacture required componentsSet up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing planOperate equipment to carry out each step correctlyMonitor the production process and intervene when necessaryInspect finished components for defectsMaintain equipment required to carry out dutiesFollow prescribed safety regulation and equipment lock-out/tag-out proceduresComply with Global Harmonized System (GHS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and hazardous waste labeling requirementsExecute proper spill response proceduresKeep equipment and work area clean and orderlyMaintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisorsWork in a safe and conscientious mannerAssist other employees in the performance of their duties as necessaryPerform all other job duties as assigned by supervisor

QualificationsFamiliar with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery used for computer-aided manufacturingAbility to operate grinders, lathes, and milling machinesMath skills to take precise measurements and make calculationsOral and written communication skillsAnalytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective manufacturing plans based on specificationsProblem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing processAbility to work independently without direct supervision and as a team memberRead and speak EnglishExperience in structural steel operations (preferred)High School Diploma (preferred)

Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
Routine exposure to steel fabrication environment and occasional outside weather conditions, excessive noise levels and is regularly exposed to vibration.  Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes, vapors, or airborne particles. Occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
