SummaryIn this role, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing complex mechanical and robotic systems with requirements driven by sound project management practices. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work to conceptualize, design, rapid prototype, and produce new equipment for the truss manufacturing industry. In this position you will work on robust machinery design that helps customers improve their production output.

Job Responsibilities & RequirementsRESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products with focus on New Product Development (NPD) in the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry

Participate in the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automation

Generate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.)

Participate in the staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)

Complete troubleshooting and root cause/corrective actions

Design/integrate/test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practices

Design/integrate/test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems

Design/integrate/test industrial electro-mechanical and robotic systems

Develop/maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)

Develop and publish new standardized processes and procedures that affect engineering organization

Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery

Perform engineering analysis/calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis)

Enter new/update existing data in MRP/ERP system

Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service Organizations throughout a product’s lifecycle

Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Some travel required (up to 10% during critical on-site activities)

Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university

3+ years of working experience

Understanding of strength of materials, statics, and dynamics

Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, and AutoCAD Mechanical

Proficiency in machining and welding symbols with experience in GD&T analysis

Proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Experience in the utilization of vision systems and robotics

Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems

Ability to work individually and as part of a team

Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines

Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills

Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stake holders
