Scope of Responsibility: 

The primary role of the ASNT NDT Level III Professional is to lead the team of technicians that inspect the quality of welded joints in metallic materials. The position is a key element for serving our customer base, thus making the position very demanding with full responsibility and accountability for its effectiveness in achieving our overall goal of supplying excellent Quality. In addition, the position demands controls and procedures to ensure products are consistently built and shipped to meet Customer specifications and requirements, including on time delivery.

Essential Duties:

Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control NDT methods used by Sabre Industries/FWT facilitiesCapable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facilities and the staffCapable of selecting the method and technique for a specific inspectionPrepare and verify the adequate procedures in the method certifiedApprove NDT procedures and other NDT related work instructions for technical adequacy in the method in which they are certifiedAudit the current personnel to current customer requirements in NDT methods as needed.Provide training and guidance to personnel in determining pass/fail criteria.Conduct inspection to ensure quality, detect discontinuities using ultrasonic equipment.Accurate process of paperwork and test resultsConduct training and guidance for Level I & Level II inspectorsVerification of product to specificationApprove and or authorize maintenance methods of inspection tools and equipmentAbility to read blueprints and have an understanding of lean manufacturing practices and cost effectivenessReviews and stays abreast with NDT requirements, and updatesAbility to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to co-workers and subordinates as a representative of the companyResponsible for all aspects of NDT related recordsAssist with any other projects as neededAbility to follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and/or infectious control standardsAbility to maintain confidentiality of records and informationPossess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse communityProvide training, mentor, coach and evangelize a passion for quality, customer satisfaction and a client view within/throughout the Sabre Industries businesses.Additional duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements: 

Must meet all criteria and be current in Level III methods within responsibility.  Current in ASNT certification and able to meet all applicable requirements directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in SNT-TC-1A .  Has experience preferably in a field that offers a broad background of NDT inspection responsibilities. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, and can effectively use e-mail.Provide leadership and coaching of division level continual improvement events in relation to known inefficiencies (manufacturing or system) and potential compliance violations in code or customer requirements.Developmentally Coach our leaders, supervisors, and associates in problem solving methods, standard operating procedures (NDT and manufacturing), consistent reporting, and especially interaction with our clientele.Knowledge of heavy manufacturing (fabrication, machinery) requiredKnowledge of how to manage and can provide past examples of tactical and strategic management across multiple facilities and across multiple statesDomestic Travel Required – 40% as needed to Sabre facilities and Customer LocationsASTM Pressure Vessel or AWS D1.1 Experience Preferred – background in SAW, and or GMAW weldingAWS CWI Preferred – or ability to test into within 6 monthsASQ Certification Preferred – CQE, or CQA

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 25 poundsMust be able to walk and perform activities that require considerable use of arms and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling materials - within an office, manufacturing environment and potentially client based outside utilities, such as storage yards, utility lines and customer testing facilitiesMust be willing to visit customer and client locations in an open environment, possibly exposed to extreme temperatures – while maintaining a safe work ethic and using proper PPE as required for the occasion.
