Summary:

Under the administrative direction of the Network HIM Manager, serves as the key liaison and coordinator for the development and operation of the quality management work of the department for the EHR. Responsible for support functions for the HIM department.  In addition, this individual takes primary responsibility for implementing and collecting necessary data upon the request of the Network HIM Director to manage health information procedures required by the regulatory, network, hospital, department and corporate requirements.  Acts as a subject matter expert and resource for the electronic health record within the facility. Prepares reports as assigned. Serves as liaison within the facility and network.

Position Qualifications:

Experience/Education:

Minimum of high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) required. 

1 year of experience in Health Information Management with emphasis in computer applications and experience with an electronic patient record system required.   

Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Information Management or related field preferred.

Certifications/Registrations:

Current enrollment or completion in the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Program preferred. A background in the use of medical terminology for the assigned area is preferred.
