Position Summary:

The Coatings Process Manager is a leader within the organization that will provide technical support for all the manufacturing sites that use liquid or powder paint applications on heavy-duty transit buses.   The Coatings Process Manager will ensure paint quality meets or exceeds customer expectations by improving processes and equipment by justifying and implementing project plans.


What You Will Do:

Assist in hiring process, mentor, train and support employee annual reviews for paint/coating-related Manufacturing Engineer resources.Establish appropriate process work flows for paint/coating-related activities and provide direction towards appropriate preventative maintenance and repair for all paint/coating equipment.Manage the manufacturing engineer support and services to New Flyer paint personnel and related processes.Lead, specify, justify, implement, and provide ongoing support for new and existing coating processes and related equipment/tooling for all New Flyer production facilities as assigned.Create standard/safe work instructions (SWI’s) and train the necessary personnel on those standards.Ensure policies and processes are established and followed to ensure goals and objectives for all regulatory and legal requirements are met including organizational Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety programs.Ensures compliance with New Flyer’s Best Practices, Safety Initiatives, applicable laws/rules in the countries, states and communities in which New Flyer operates.Maintain professional and working relationships with Customers and effectively manage paint/coating-related issues.Produce required reporting for both internal and customer needs as required and effectively communicate information and KPI status updates as needed.Promote an environment of continuous improvement and team work by implementing lean manufacturing initiatives, resource utilization, performance improvement, measurement and audit.Work with various vendors to research and test new technologies toward improved quality, productivity, and troubleshooting support.Participate in internal and outside supplier certifications and audits, as required. 


Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline from a four-year college or university; Lean certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptableOne to two years of previous leadership and/or supervisory experiencePrior experience working with paint, coatings, and prep materials and processesKnowledge of various paint/coatings prep, application and test equipmentProject Management knowledge and experience is preferred Superior communication, computer and organizational skillsMotivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast-paced team-oriented environmentExperience with Auto CAD or UniGraphics, Microsoft Office Suite
