These positions are represented by the Public Employees Local 71 Union (L71) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and L71. DEPARTMENT: Eagle River Parks and Recreation HOURS OF WORK: Hours vary for specialized crew needs 8am to 4:30 and 7am to 3:30; Wednesday through Sunday and Monday thru Friday LOCATION: 12001 Business Boulevard Ste 123, Eagle River These are seasonal, full-time positions (40 hours per week), with an anticipated start date of 04/15/2024 with an approximate end date of six months from date of hire. Example of Duties In general, this position maintains parks, sports facilities, outdoor recreation facilities, trails and municipal owned grounds, including the cleaning of park restrooms. Performs turf maintenance including irrigation, mowing, aeration, seeding, sodding, thatching, trimming and fertilization. Performs litter collection, ball field maintenance, park equipment and grounds repairs including park signs, barriers and fences. Maintenance of bike and ski/hiking trails including brush clearing and black top or concrete repair. Some carpentry, painting and other tasks as assigned. Winter maintenance tasks of snow/ice removal, as well as sanding and ice rink maintenance may apply depending on work season and weather conditions. General labor with heavy lifting anticipated daily in all weather conditions. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences Six (6) months experience in lawn, landscape, trails, construction, grounds, or facility maintenance. Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at the time of hire. Preferences: + Experience in operating various types of maintenance equipment and tools. Additional Important Information If selected for hire, applicant must be capable of bending, twisting, and kneeling. Applicant must be able to lift and carry items weighing more than fifty (50) pounds and willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.
