We depend on our lab staff to help determine what is happening with our patients. They are a vital key to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Some of what you will do: + Obtain blood specimens by capillary puncture or venipuncture using appropriate technique. + Correctly identifies patient per written protocol and properly labels specimens accurately and completely while maintaining the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test being performed. + Exercises judgment in determining work priority. Interacts with nursing units to ascertain critical priorities and verify discrepancies. + Disposes of contaminated lab supplies and handles all lab specimens regarding potential health hazards according to written procedures. + Receives laboratory specimens orders tests processes specimens using the centrifuge and + Distributes specimens to appropriate testing areas communicating special instructions. + Maintains professional attitude with patients visitors hospital staff and fellow employees while assuring the confidentiality of all hospital information. Discusses problems in a professional adult and calm manner. **Qualifications** What you will need: No experience is necessary! It is preferred to have six months previous experience in phlebotomy and customer service. Education/Licensure: Required: High School diploma or GED.
