Polysomnographic Technician I
Job Summary

A Certified Polysomnographic Technician develops competency in and performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions.

Job Duties Gathers and Analyzes Patient Information Verifies the medical order and protocol.Registers patients and verify all insurance and demographic information, outpatient data, and any other patient and family information deemed necessary.Explains pre-testing, testing and post testing as well as orient the patient to the Sleep Lab.Testing Preparation Procedures Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning.Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals.Performs routine positive airway pressure mask fitting.Polysomnographic Procedures Follows procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data.Follows lights out procedures to establish and document baseline values.Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free.Identify and report signal abnormalities.Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.Assists with appropriate.Follow lights on procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process.Assist with assorted clerical duties including, but not limited to: scheduling, maintaining required data, ordering of supplies and linen, managing patient files, and report distribution.Assist in compiling information for Performance Improvement programs.Polysomnographic Record Scoring Score sleep and wake stages under the supervision of a Level II or III Polysomnographic Technician by applying professionally accepted guidelines.Score clinical events under the supervision of a Level II or III Polysomnographic Technician by applying professionally accepted guidelines.Completion of accurate reports under the supervision of a Level II or III Polysomnographic Technician by tabulating sleep and wake and clinical event data.Complies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.Participates in equipment care and maintenance.Participates in all Joint Commission mandated educational programs including, but not limited to, Infection control, Fire, Electrical and Hazard Safety programs annually.Maintains confidentiality of patient and program information.

12 hour nights 7pm-7am3 nights a week including weekends, either Sunday, Monday, Tuesday schedule or Wednesday, Thursday, Friday schedule
