Postdoctoral Associate

The Legon Lab at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech in association with the Department of Neuroscience has an immediate opening for a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join a developing human neuromodulation group for the use of low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU). The research seeks to develop and optimize LIFU as a new human brain mapping tool and for translation to clinical therapies in addiction and pain. Knowledge in human neuroscience, non-invasive neuromodulation, human behavioral testing and data analysis of one or more of fMRI, EEG, EMG, behavioral data is required. Experience in biomedical engineering applications, MATLAB, computer modelling or other programming language is helpful but not mandatory. To accelerate established efforts, the lab requires the candidate to partner with on and off-site scientists with expertise in small animal applications and also human clinical applications. The Legon Lab was the first to apply LIFU to humans for non-invasive neuromodulation and seeks to extend our ground-breaking findings to clinical and therapeutic applications including addiction and pain.
