Postdoctoral Associate- Shin Lab

The laboratory of Dr. Sora Shin at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to join a studying stress-induced behavioral dysfunction using brain circuit dissection tools. The research seeks to understand brain circuit mechanism of stress-induced social dysfunctions, altered pain sensation. Knowledge in neuroscience, neuromodulation, animal behavioral testing and data analysis of in vivo calcium imaging/ fiber photometry is required.

The successful candidate will be expected to have proficiency in animal (mouse) works as well as stereotaxic surgery, molecular biology techniques, and viral tracing methods. The postdoctoral associate is expected, with guidance and support from her or his supervisor, to maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and contribute to the process of a project within his or her scientific discipline, as well as investigating, creating, and developing new methods for project advancement. The postdoctoral associate may conduct research under the general direction of the Principal Investigator. The Shin lab seeks to extend our ground-breaking findings in brain circuit dynamics underlying numerous psychiatric symptoms using cutting-edge techniques in the field of neuroscience.
