Project Engineer, Energy Storage

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer , Energy Storage will assist the Site Manager and/or Project Manager in the administration and coordination of the daily operations of the project site under the supervision of Site Manager to deliver a safe and quality project. The Project Engineer will lead the training effort of the Field Engineer job functions to ensure Primoris Renewables’ processes are learned, developed, and demonstrated. The Project Engineer will work with the team of Trade Superintendents to learn and understand multiple work disciplines along with being a leader in scheduling, cost control, quantity tracking, procurement, client satisfaction, daily jobsite needs, and work activities.

This position is located at the project site (nationwide). Occasional travel to the Denver, Colorado office is required for training and company meetings.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure the project stays within scope with respect to the Prime Contract and notify Site Manager and Project Manager in the case of a scope deviation or potential for scope deviation. Responsible for working with management team on establishing phase codes for change orders.
• Train and develop Field Engineer and Project Administrator. The training consists of Primoris processes (to include but not limited to scheduling, cost accounting, tracking, timecards, contracts, and division of responsibility) to develop skill sets to a proficient and productive level.
• Track progress of project and financial status by analyzing/monitoring hourly cost and production; comparing initial project cost budget to actual daily cost and production data. Participate in identifying alternate methods of construction and evaluate costs to original budget.
• Fill in for the Project Manager or Site Manager in the case of their short-term absence.
• Support the Project Manager and Site Manager with developing change orders, preparation of internal and external Project presentations, updating project budgets, preparing cost flows and cost forecasts and support communication of the project completion status from the field.
• Coordinate, lead, and document routine project update meetings with client and internal stakeholders regarding the status and progress of the work; coordinate with Project Design Lead as may be necessary to understand project progress. Coordinate with the internal subcontracting team to identify needs, develop scopes of work, and hire appropriate third parties to execute the work.
• Ensure the FE’s create the criteria and set-up the project for the Plan of the Day meeting. Will have the ability to look ahead on the work, create/update indicators, and implement a full project schedule. Utilize corporate scheduling program when updating project schedule.
• Ensure Project reporting requirements are met by Field Engineers, supports, and reviews all reporting prior to final Project Manager review and submittal.
• Coordinate and facilitate operations kick off meetings with appropriate internal parties.
• Manage the project coordination platform(s) including managing RFIs, submittals, quality documentation, project documentation, etc. by coordinating with responsible parties.
• Assist Site Manager and Project Manager with subcontractor’s purchase request forms, requests for agreements, deliverables, and schedules.
• Develop and maintain a good working relationship with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and co- workers to strengthen company position. Assist the site management team in displaying and promoting the company values, tenets and culture while representing the company in a professional manner.
• Ensure final inventory and jobsite closeout activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Ensure jobsite office networking services are set-up (copiers/printers/scanners, phone lines, etc.).
• Apply for and complete local permits as specified by the project permit matrix.
• Continuously compare detailed project design parameters and major component quantities with project estimate as a baseline and report quantity deviations to Project Manager and Project Design Lead for review prior to acceptance for purchase.
• Responsible for scheduling and hosting lessons learned meetings to provide feedback to the Project Design Lead and Preconstruction during project execution.
• Responsible for ensuring all drawing redlines are captured accurately and are ultimately developed into record drawings for submittal to owner.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in Utility Scale Solar and experience in energy storage projects, primarily battery storage

PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
• Accounting (math and record-keeping).
• Ability to give presentations to groups of up to 10 or more people.
• Ability to mentor, train, and develop Field Engineers.
• Ability to manage multiple complex tasks across multiple disciplines.
• Involved with and understand 2 or more disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail) and Visio.
• Effective communication (oral, written, presentation), motivation, and supervisory skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks.
• Ability to re-locate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to (project duration averages 6-12 months).
