Element has an opportunity for a Project Engineer - Controls Engineering to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the Business Improvement Team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine project assignments under minimal direct supervision.

 

These projects typically consist of supporting Element built test frames with software upgrades, electrical hardware upgrades, troubleshooting issues, IoT solutions, and implementing new technologies to increase capability and productivity of the Element lab function.

 

As the Project Engineer, you need to be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

 

This position is hybrid requiring weekly in office days.

 

Responsibilities Support existing Element built test machines. These machines utilize B&R Automation hardware and software. Developing new capabilities within the existing system will be a prioritySupport and continue to develop IoT solutions for Element assets. Element utilizes home built IoT hardware and software and supplements this with OEM solutions. These systems consist of custom designed and built circuit board and programming use of JavaScript. Currently, myDevices is used for off the shelf hardware and hosting of software servicesTakes initiative and, in most cases, does not need to wait for further instruction.Able to decide on and implement appropriate design methods and protocolsMaintain close guidance of advanced Engineers within Element and via external sources to work on well delineated technical issues including standard and routine analysisWorks closely with the following teams:  Element IT, Element Data Science, Element Software Engineers, Element Operation Excellence, individual lab General Managers and their supporting staff Skills / Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferredAt least 3 years of experience in industrial automation and controls.Experience with B&R Automation is a bonus, but experience in the automated systems and controls field is requiredPossess expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of industrial automation, electrical design, controls and IoTPossesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s businessCan analyze and troubleshoot software and control systemsStrong computer skills including experience in generating programming for control systems and data transmitting devices.  This may include Structured Text, Java, HTML, C++, C#, mysqlProficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPointBasic experience with IoT solutions, both hardware and softwareAny related hobby skills in programming, circuits and control applications would be a bonusSome travel to other Element locations will be requiredThis position requires US citizenship
