Overview JOB SUMMARY: The Project Manager is the senior presence in the field and has overall responsibility for the safety, quality, technical and administrative success of projects. This is a North Slope, Alaska based position on an approximate 6 weeks on / 1 week off rotation between January and April. Construction planning occurs in Fairbanks or Anchorage during the Fall on a more traditional M-F Schedule and then transitions to the North Slope for project execution in Winter. Summer hydrotests may be required depending on the project scope. LOCATION: Town & remote project sites SCHEDULE: Town - Mon-Fri+; Projects - Mon-Sun HOURS: Town – 40+, Projects – 70+ **This position can be filled in either Fairbanks, AK or Anchorage, AK** Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Understand, practice and continually lead by example Doyon Associated’s commitment to zero incident safety and environmental culture. Provide overall project management and leadership on new pipeline construction, rehabilitation of existing pipelines, and oilfield maintenance projects. Continually promote a strong working relationship with the client. Review and approve official letters, memoranda, reports, and all other correspondence written by staff members before submission to clients. Continually promote superior quality workmanship and safety. During project planning, work with corporate management, estimators, and client personnel on preparation of work sequencing, implementation of lessons learned, alternative solutions, and execution plans for new and continuing projects. Other duties as assigned or as required. Be proactive in addressing potential issues before they become critical. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Understand the risks of pipeline construction and rehabilitation and continually ensure proactive measures are taken to mitigate all safety and environmental hazards. Recognize the importance of quality workmanship and performing tasks safely. Be visible on jobsite and a vocal proponent of quality and safety to project personnel. Excellent understanding and working knowledge of all contracts, work orders, change orders, and similar documents governing each project and ensure internal compliance with applicable terms and conditions. Strong understanding and working knowledge of union agreements governing craft employees. Continually promote and practice teamwork. Demonstrate leadership, motivation, and interpersonal skills in managing people, processes, and simultaneous and concurrent projects. Full understanding of duties and responsibilities of all staff positions. Finalize subcontracts as required. Understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices, and processes relate to projects and clients. Participate in required client meetings to include management, cost controls, construction and other meetings as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This is the most senior project field position and supervises the project’s management staff. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: College degree in construction management, engineering or related and equivalent experience. 5-10 years management experience on arctic pipeline construction and maintenance projects. Experience supervising highly educated, experienced and skilled managers. Oil and Gas industry and/or Government experience on union contracts. COMPETENCIES: Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable speaking before small and large groups. Strong analytical and report writing skills. Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Adobe, and Windows. Ability to learn, understand and effectively use client and DAL’s corporate management information systems. Good working knowledge of corporate accounting and job costing software. Ability to use advanced and intermediate mathematical and financial concepts. Must able to maintain composure under pressure. Ability to understand totality of project scope and the reasoning behind decisions made by construction supervision to keep projects on schedule and within budgets. Strong ability to reason with client’s project management, technical authorities and construction supervision. PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40+ pounds. May be required to stand, sit, or walk for reasonable periods of time. Operate personal computer for extended periods. Work outdoors in weather extremes and near equipment with potentially high noise levels.
