Job Responsibilities:

Works with operations, manufacturing and product engineering, suppliers, and customers to develop quality standards and specifications that can be economically maintained to ensure product acceptability. Establish and track quality metrics. Act as the primary liaison between customers or suppliers, and Quanex on quality-related issues. Visit customers on a routine or emergency basis to resolve quality issues. Prepare written reports of supplier quality audits. Visit suppliers on a routine or emergency basis to resolve quality issues and verify supplier quality systems on the production floor. Develop and maintain supplier quality audit materials and supplier quality metrics. Assure accuracy of quality documentation including hold tags, inspection reports, data collection, supplier inspection reports and test reports. Ensure proper documentation of quality test requests to the fullest extent that would allow for future replication studies. Compiles and prepares technical documentation in a presentable manner appropriate for target audience, and monitors conformance to standards. Lead cross-functional teams in problem solving sessions to establish definitive root cause and effective corrective actions for both internal and supplier quality issues. Perform inspection tasks in emergency, temporary absences, or other appropriate circumstances. Train technicians and production employees on quality assurance practices, procedures, specifications, and techniques. Verifies components at various stages of production, performs internal audit of departments to ensure conformance to requirements and specifications. Serves as a support function to the production environment. Strives toward continual improvement as it relates to quality. Primary liaison between customers and Quanex on quality related issues. Determines Testing requirement of raw materials, manufactured components, and finished goods to determine conformance to specification. Maintain records and statistics relating to quality of parts, materials, and finished products. Develops Part Production Approval Process (PPAP), Control Plans, Failure Mode, and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts. Good communication skills with vendors, suppliers, buyers, customers, and customer service Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

 

 What I must bring: 

Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., quality, engineering, business, information systems, data management). 5 years of experience in a Quality position within a manufacturing environment and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong mathematical background is required to compile statistical data. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Six Sigma is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office essential.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and process improvement. Strong problem-solving skills. Proficiency in statistical data analysis. The occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, off shift and weekend work, and overnight travel may be required. Proficient knowledge of measurement and test equipment (hand tools, gauges, optical tools, electronic measurement equipment & scales, surface plate methods and equipment and color measurement. Proficient understanding of audit methods and components.
