Recreation Assistant (ITT)
Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation. This position is considered Regular Full Time. The position is guaranteed 40 hours. As a regular employee, you are eligible for accrued leave and benefits, including medical, life insurance, 401(k), and retirement. The starting pay rate for this position is $26.00 per hour. Responsibilities Performs a variety of customer service, sales, and related functions at the Buckley SFB ITT office. Greets patrons, provides requested information and performs over-the-counter selling of tickets to area attractions and retail merchandise. Explains prices, discounts, special promotions, and park offerings to patrons. Organizes trips to local venues and may operate a vehicle to transport patrons to area events, tours, or other designated activities. Operates a point of sales (POS) inventory system to complete and record sales, make change, and issue tickets and merchandise. Accounts for cash and ticket inventory and ensures tickets are properly safeguarded and accounted. Responsible for ensuring accurate monthly financials and postings in the correct line of accounts to submit to the NAF accounting office. Assists or conducts monthly and other periodic inventories of tickets and merchandise. Recommends retail items to be purchased or discounted. Coordinates ITT programs with off-base recreational facilities and attractions to obtain the best possible price for ITT customers. Provides regular price and/or discount tickets to sporting events, theme parks, and other recreational events. Coordinates leisure travel information and referral services for both individual and groups. Issues rental/loan equipment to include reserving and entering rental data into POS system, instructing patrons on proper use of the equipment, and inspecting for damage or misuse once the equipment is returned. Monitors, notifies customers, and receive payments for recreation areas, RV storage lot and POV lot. Responsible for maintaining an internal control system IAW local control procedures to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse regarding ticket inventories and fund accountability. Receives, counts, verifies daily cash receipts, and makes deposits. Prepares daily activity reports and other reports as required. Secures and displays information relating to commercial tours, cruises, vacation packages and amusement parks in support of individuals and groups traveling locally, nationally, or internationally. Completes submission of marketing requests to promote events or advertise for ticket sales to assure maximum effectiveness in attracting customers and motivating participants. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have responsible experience in clerical, office, cash handling or retail sales work of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Experience must demonstrate knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, the ability to resolve common arithmetic problems used when receiving payment from customers, and the ability to operate a cash register or point of sales system. Responsible experience gained in a travel agency, cruise line corporate travel environment, or related field is desired. Must have basic computer skills to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently and to communicate effectively. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include evening, weekends, and holidays. Must satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Level background check. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. Must have a valid state driver license. "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use." You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
