Registered Nurse House Supervisor PRN
Job Description

Responsible for coordinating and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of the activities of the total patient care during the assigned shift. In the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer and/or designee, the AHS has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of the administrator on-call.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Must be an RN graduate of an approved school of nursing as evidenced by state licensure.

Diploma or transcripts required upon hire.

Experience:

Two years experience in a hospital setting.  A minimum of 6 month’s supervisor and/or charge nurse experience.

Licenses/Certificates:

Must possess a current Tennessee or Compact State Registered Nurse license.  Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) or within 30 days of hire. ACLS and PALS certification required within 6 months of hire. 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical, or employment status or patients of Tennova Healthcare and their families.

Follows and enforces accepted safety practices for patients and hospitals.

Participate in Performance improvement activities.

Utilize the nursing process to oversee and provide age specific patient care.

Communicates in an acceptable and easily understood manner verbally and in writing.

Collaborates with All Departments to facilitate patient care and observe all federal, State and local regulations, policies and guidelines.

Educates and adheres to the patient bill of rights.

Share knowledge with peers and participate in the orientation of new employees.

Be flexible in the needs of the hospital, i.e. responding to changes in work schedule, assignment, and management meetings.

Manages Patient, Visitor, Staff, and Physician Conflicts in an acceptable manner

Assists units with staffing and closely monitors PMR.

Completes required competencies and develops new competencies as needed.

Must be willing to work day and night shifts and weekends. Shift differentials apply.
