RN Coordinator - Patient Logistics

Job Summary:  Responsible for all activities which involve the effective and efficient placement and flow of patients throughout the health care system. Includes coordinating the placement of admissions (elective and emergent), direct admits, and transfers in accordance with established polices and bed allocation criteria ensuring patients are assigned in the appropriate status and location. Responsible for facilitation of patient discharges and transfers in and out to other hospitals/health care facilities while adhering to all applicable laws and regulations. Monitors and projects bed availability based on known, predicted, or expected admissions, transfers, and discharges. Ensures the overall effective placement of the patient is completed in an efficient and timely manner.    

Qualifications:  Associate’s degree and graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license) required. BLS required.   Minimum of three years of experience in an acute hospital setting required with preferred experience in Critical Care or Emergency Department. Experience as a lead / charge nurse or experience with patient placement/bed management protocols experience preferred.  Excellent organizational and communication skills. Possess ability to use critical thinking skills, logic, and reasoning to address complex situations. Ability to organize and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
