Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center is the South Metro area’s full-service medical center, with the friendly feel of a community hospital and the skill and services of a much larger medical center. Among our specialties: stroke, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, cancer care, and orthopedic and total joint surgery. Plus, a birth center and breast health center.

 

The Medical Specialties Unit is located on the first, second, and third floor, units 1B, 1D, 2C, & 3D of Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center. Number of beds: 52 beds, all private bed. 

 

Primary patient population/diagnoses:

Age groups served:Adult and geriatric patientsPediatric patients ≥ 15 years of age and ≥ 40 kgMedical diagnosesCardiac diagnosesStable patients with acute coronary syndromeStable patients with decompensated CHFEndocrine disorders, including, but not limited to, diabetesEnd-of-life care when transferring to home or an inpatient hospice setting is not realistic based on life expectancyInfection diseasesGI disorders, including, but not limited to, Crone’s disease, obstructionNeurological disorders, acute and chronic, including, but not limited to:Brain injuryMultiple sclerosisSeizure monitoring with continuous EEG monitoringSpinal cord injuryOncology diagnoses, including, but not limited to:Conditions related to the cancer, e.g. chemotherapy, neutropenia, symptom management related to treatment, crisis management and/or pain control.Specific care related to oncologic conditions, administration of chemotherapy, and surgery.Pulmonary, including, but not limited to, COPD, stable ventilator management, respiratory isolationPsychiatric patients requiring acute medical interventionOverflow surgical patients as per surgical scope of service Responsibilities

Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer.

Qualifications

Education: 

As required by licensure.  BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.

 

Experience:

One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration.  Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized.

 

Knowledge/Skills: 

Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community.  Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
