Job description

JOB DETAILS

Base Pay: $24.50 per hour plus $2.50 shift differential

Shift: 6PM- 6AM Rotating Shift

Benefits start day one

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Roll Form Associates are responsible for all aspects of roll-formed accessory production, including tooling setup, machine operation, part inspection, product packaging, and material handling activities.  Roll Form associates are expected to work in a safe, productive, and cooperative manner in accordance with Ply Gem policies and procedures.

Complete all tasks as assigned by production department leadershipRead, understand, and follow the steps outlined in SOPs for each task being performed. Deviations from established procedures are permitted only with supervisor approvalTake prompt corrective action to eliminate safety hazards, minimize equipment downtime, reduce scrap generation, and correct deviations from quality standardsComplete required documentation including production records, quality checks, product labels, and manifest transactions in a complete, legible, and accurate mannerOperate equipment to produce cartons in the amounts specified by MTO ticket, Kanban card, or product delay card, as appropriatePerform established quality checks on parts at required intervals to ensure all product specifications are being metAssemble cartons, pack pieces, and load sealed cartons onto dollies for transport to the warehouseProperly manage all wastes generated, including segregation of recyclable materials and segregation of hazardous wastes by typeTake steps to minimize the amount of waste generatedMaintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safe and efficient operations Qualifications Previous manufacturing and/or maintenance lead experience requiredMust be able to read, write and perform basic math skills as job duties requireMust possess common sense, positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent attendance Must be quality and safety conscious, a team playerAbility to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waistMust have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to interact with peoplePosition Requires extensive standing, frequent bending, sitting, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting and walkingRequired to wear/use personal protective equipment, tugger, overhead crane, carts, dollies and some hand toolsSafe work performance is required from each Associate at all timesMaintain proper discharge of safety responsibilities is an integral part of each Associate’s performance appraisal

The requirements listed below are in addition to the preceding essential functions for all Roll Form Associates:

Tugger Operator

Responsible for transporting manufactured products to the designated storage or shipping area based on the type of itemFacilitate transfer of production signals within the facility through pickup/delivery of Kanban cards and delays between the warehouse and production areas

Material Handler

Review daily production schedules and manage supply of materials to production lines to ensure efficient operationHandle and transport materials in a safe, efficient, and careful manner that minimizes damage or causes scrapMonitor condition of scrap baskets, corrugated bins, and trash hoppers and haul full containers to the appropriate area for recycling or disposalMaintain WIP inventory accuracy through proper removal and recording of inventory tickets, and re-ticketing of unused material as neededEffectively prioritize multiple tasks to optimize operation of the production linesMonitor inventory of key supplies used in the production area and re-order as necessary to enable continued production

Perforator Operator

Responsible for daily operation of the perforator pressPerform setups, die changes, adjustments, and repairs to the perforator pressAssist maintenance department in performing periodic preventative maintenance on the pressPerform required material handling activities, including retrieving coils to be perforated from stores, hauling scrap materials, and returning perforated coils to stores

Roll Form Setup

Perform tooling changes, setups, die changes, and adjustments on the roll form lines to enable production of parts that meet all specificationsAssist maintenance department in performing periodic preventative maintenance as needed

Team Leader

Lead by example in performance of all job functions, including demonstration of safe work habits and adherence to established procedures.  Monitor employees in the work area to ensure expectations are being metTroubleshoot problems as they arise and take prompt corrective or preventative actions to ensure consistent operation of equipment and flow of material within the departmentLead daily pre-shift activities including toolbox meetings, stretching exercises, review of safety/quality alerts, and conduct safety meetings as applicableCoordinate employee activities to ensure departmental productivity, quality, scrap, and safety goals are achievedAssist department supervision with incident investigations, employee evaluations, and coordination of activities between shifts and across departments Additional information
