Job Description Position Title: Safety Technician Position Reports To: Area Safety Manager Position Summary A Safety Technician is r esponsible for working with the crafts professionals and management to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of safety and productivity requirements. Essential Functions + Assists, plans, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). + Advises on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions. + Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices. + Maintains safety files and records. + Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. + Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management. + Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs. + Always maintains a clean and safe work environment + Comply with all Apache safety policies and programs . + Work unsupervised in an efficient and effective manner. + Able to wear all required PPE + Other d uties as assigned. Education & Experience + C ompletion of basic safety courses that demonstrate a candidate's initial understanding of applicable rules, laws and regulations governing occupational safety and health + Minimum 0 - 2 y ear s of safety experience + Minimum 0-2 years of experience of related industry Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Knowledge of governmental HSE standards, rules, and regulations. + Knowledge of client practices and standards utilized in the work environments. + Sound understanding of hazard recognition/mitigation techniques + Ability to work with computers and automated information systems for safety. + Possess training and presentation skills + Must be able to communicate with all levels of the Company, plant employees, contractors, and community. + Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, organizational skills, both analytical and problem solving, and the ability to work with confidential documents + Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. + Plan work and select proper tools. + Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. + Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
