Primary Responsibilities

As a Senior Structural Engineer, we will count on you to:

Actively participate in development of project deliverables. Plan, organize, supervise, and seal the work of subordinate engineers as required to support projects. Support a wide variety of projects that require Owner’s Engineering, consulting, and detailed design.Design and plan production for structural engineering activities on a wide variety of projects, including foundation design for major equipment, design of support steel for equipment/piping/conduits/access platforms, and other related engineering activities.Participate in development of procurement and construction specifications, design reviews and technical assessment of construction progress.Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and proceduresServe as a structural technical expert in support of consulting and design projectsPrepare calculations as required to support engineering deliverables and cost estimates.Serve as a project manager for select projects, although project management is not the primary focus of this position.Be directly involved with local clients in marketing, proposal development, and maintaining client relationships for select projects and clients, although business development is not the primary focus of this position.Support proposal development via preparation of structural engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates.Maintain a working knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations and industry standards.Work cooperatively with others to marketing and production efforts, including Client and Business Development through technical assistance on proposals and pursuitsPerform all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringMinimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building designPEMicrosoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical softwareExperience in design calculations and layoutsAbility to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and woodRequires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysisPrevious experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firmAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Structural EngineeringStrong understanding of codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and others.Strong communication, listening and mentoring skillsAbility to handle multiple concurrent assignmentsGood leadership and organizational skillsComputer knowledge Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD, LPile, RISA or similar analytical software
