Supervisor Belt

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Belt Supervisor to join our Shoal Creek, AL team. This role is responsible for effectively supervising and directing a team of hourly employees to ensure efficient operation of belts in accordance with Peabody standards and MSHA regulations and manage equipment in a cost-effective manner.

 

Duties will include:

•    Duties include changing rollers, making belt splices, and cleaning belts 
•    Supervise crew to ensure production goals are being met, this includes setup of employees, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance.
•    Supervise crew on belt splices, conveyor belt framing and roller changes and clean-up activities on conveyor belts.
•    Conduct crew safety and informational sharing meetings, to ensure safe practices.
•    Communicate with Belt Foreman regarding progress and/or any personnel or equipment issues.  
•    Responsible for teaching new employees the correct belt operation processes.
•    Foster and maintain respectful relationships with all levels of personnel  
•    Promote, support, and comply with the safety directives and policies at the site.
•    Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and/or needed.

 

The Lifestyle:

This position is a full-time, salaried role working from our Shoal Creek mine in Oakman, AL.

 

About you:

•    Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  
•    Minimum 3 - 5 years of underground mining operations and conveyor system experience.
•    Alabama Mine Foreman Certification (preferred).
•    Experience related to conveyor belt installation and maintenance.
•    Must have a high level of understanding MSHA Regulations.
•    Ability to communicate with personnel on shift and adjacent shifts.
•    Current electrical card (relevant state – desired) 
•    Must be willing to work on any assigned shift, including holidays and scheduled weekends.

•    Supervisor and/or crew lead experience preferred.  (Union supervisory experience preferred).
•    Experience with 72” belt (preferred).
•    Ability to follow company, State and Federal plans and policies.
•    Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs. 
•    Experience in Success Factors, SAP and Kronos is a plus. 

 

Physical requirements:

Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces. Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles. Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom. Walking ability will be judged according to SCSR emergency evacuation plan required and approved by MSHA. Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA. Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height. Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders. Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination. Must have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

In addition, individuals must meet the minimum vison and hearing requirements to fulfil a safety sensitive role: At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction. At least 70° field of vision in horizontal meridian measured in each eye. The use of corrective lenses should be noted on the Medical Examiner's Certificate. No more than 40dB average hearing loss in better ear (with or without hearing aid).
