Technical Specialist
Position Overview We’re looking for an experienced Technical Specialist in our new electronics and embedded systems laboratory at our headquarters in Lisle, IL. This Technical Specialist will work on electrical and electronics hardware, electrical vehicle powertrain, advanced systems architecture and reliability and quality. Responsibilities Assist engineering teams with electronics testing Organizing and scheduling work requests Maintenance of equipment, including inventory management and calibration. Responsible for identifying equipment and materials needed for testing Building small prototypes including cables, small circuit assemblies and adept with working with printed circuit boards, associated components Familiar with how to set up and run electronics lab equipment; examples include Thermotron programing, transient-tester setup, spectrum analyzer configurations Develop test bench mockups Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies OR PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Knowledge of electronics principles Use of common electrical diagnostic tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc. Attention to detail and analytical skills including troubleshooting and problem-solving Reading schematics and complex instructions Strong written and verbal communication skills Fluent with common MS office programs and ability to quickly adapt to proprietary software suites Company Overview Navistar, Inc.
