At Novant Health Radiation Oncology Department, we are embarking on an innovative project to create comprehensive educational videos, enhanced with virtual reality (VR) components, aimed at preparing patients for their radiation therapy treatment journey. These videos will provide patients with a clear understanding of external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) treatments, addressing common concerns, reducing anxiety, and fostering confidence and compliance.

Duration: 12-month project (end June 2025) with the possibility of a 6-month extension.

Objectives:

Inform patients about the purpose and benefits of external beam radiation therapy.Explain the EBRT treatment process and what to expect during radiation oncology appointments.Address common concerns and misconceptions associated with radiation treatments.Reduce patient anxiety, inter- and intra-fraction motion, and treatment times.Enhance patient confidence and compliance by fostering trust and understanding.

Qualifications Educcation: Minimum: Upperclassmen Bachelors. Preferred: BachelorsExperience: Experience in video production and editing, required. Virtual reality filmmaking experience, preferred. Additional Skills Required: Proficiency in data collection and analysis, scripting, and database management in healthcare, required. Radiation Oncology specific experience, preferred. Responsibilities

We are seeking interns with either data analytics in healthcare or filmmaking experience with possible VR knowledge.

Data Analytics Intern: Responsible for creating and organizing the data collection process, scripting to extract data from our record and verify system database and maintaining and operating data collection through the pilot period. This role can be either on-site or remote. Filmmaking Intern: Responsible for assisting in filming and editing the educational videos, both for the pilot site and other departments within Novant. This role would require you to be on-site. Possible travel to other Novant Health sites for filming would be compensated.
