BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: The Digital Learning Specialist facilitates the use and integration of digital learning resources in elementary and secondary schools by providing instructional support and leadership. Through collaboration, planning, evaluation, and coordination activities, they ensure the effective utilization of digital resources. Serving as a liaison between campuses and district personnel, they work with various stakeholders to gain buy-in for technology integration projects. This role requires self-motivation, quick learning abilities, innovation, and the capacity to foster internal and external relationships, ultimately contributing to improved student achievement through 21st-century technology integration and training initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas Teaching Certificate Master’s degree in Learning, Instructional Technology, or related preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of educational technology tools, software, and platforms. Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), International Society for Technology in Education Standards (ISTE), and National Education Technology Standards (NETS). Knowledge of curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and refinement. Knowledge of effective instruction and evaluation methodologies. Knowledge of continuous improvement processes. Knowledge and understanding of complexities of building collaborative structures in the educational environment. Knowledge of District digital learning systems and related systems of support. Skill in troubleshooting problems with technology. Skill in locating and obtaining instructional materials to support the aligned curriculum. Skill in employment of a systems-perspective to maximize attainment of learning goals. Skill in engaging others in collective inquiry and problem solving. Skill in collecting, analyzing, and using data to support student learning. Skill in building collaborative teams to transform instructional practices. Skill in communicating effectively with various stakeholders. Ability to coordinate and implement multiple Instructional Technology projects simultaneously. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time. Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities. Experience:

Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience Five (5) years of classroom teaching experience preferred Experience with planning and implementing high-impact initiatives preferred

Instructional Management:

Design and implement innovative digital learning strategies aligned with blended and personalized learning best practices to support diverse student needs and learning modalities. Provide professional development and coaching for educators to effectively integrate blended learning models, such as studio rotations, flipped classrooms, and project-based learning. Develop and manage district-wide or school-based initiatives to promote equitable access to digital resources and STEM/STEAM opportunities. Stay current with emerging trends and research in digital learning, blended/personalized learning, and STEM/STEAM education to ensure innovative and effective instructional practices. Facilitate cross-department collaboration to align digital learning initiatives with district goals and curriculum standards. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by modeling effective digital learning practices and cultivating professional learning communities. Work collaboratively with instructional materials/textbook staff, curriculum staff, and designated campus staff to integrate digital learning solutions and support staff in utilizing effective and appropriate technology tools in the classroom. Assist instructional staff members and teams in planning for alignment with the District’s curriculum. Assist the District with ensuring that efforts align to campus improvement plans, legislative requirements, and the district Instructional Technology plans with regards to the engagement in the digital learning environment. Make recommendations to District and campus leadership teams regarding resources, best practices, campus support, facilities, and roles and responsibilities. Collaborate with various district and school-based teams, coordinators, specialists, Principals, Instructional Coaches, teachers, and others as needed to gain district buy-in for all technology integration projects and resources in an effort to help students develop and enhance their technology, language, reading, writing, speaking, researching and listening skills. Support classroom teachers, as appropriate. Support and participate in meeting the objectives of the campus/department improvement plans.

 

Management of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:

Help applicable departments with troubleshooting access to digital resources. Assist in the development of audio and video training and support materials. Assist in the coordination of departmental activities with other District offices and administrators and provide assistance to requesting departments. Follow District and department policies and procedures.

 

Organization Improvement:

Analyze critical needs in assigned areas and work collaboratively to implement and improve programs. Participates on committees and task forces.

 

Professional Growth and Development:

Assist with planning, designing, facilitating, and presenting professional development. Develops and provides face-to-face and online professional development for teachers, media specialists, district and campus leadership, to enhance content knowledge and pedagogy through the effective integration of technology and digital activities and resources into the curriculum. Reviews and researches 21st Century technology standards and integrates cutting edge technologies, differentiated learning strategies and methodologies into digital content delivery. Participate in professional development that increases effectiveness and improves District performance. Design and deliver effective professional development.

 

School/Community Relations:

Interface with governmental agencies, business and civic organizations, and the community to provide needed information and to promote the District’s initiatives.

 

Organization Morale:

Foster positive morale by participating in team building activities and the decision-making process. Communicate and collaborate with campus/department staff to enhance service delivery, program development, and customer satisfaction.

 

Other Responsibilities:

Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
