ROLE
Oversees all dispatch and routing activities, optimizing daily routing plans, driver routes/schedules, and ensures effective communication with respective stakeholders, achieving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages a team of dispatchers that prepare and optimize route schedules for all route types (transfer routes, residential, commercial, carts, bulky item pick-ups, street sweeping). Provide coaching and guidance to drivers that promote efficiency and accountability for route completion. Ensures the accountability of route completion through daily execution of route schedules and route modifications. Arranges alternate same-day service coverage in case of employee absence or equipment failure. Manages the assignment of drivers and collectors to routes and special pickups for complete and timely services for future dates; electronically sends callouts to driver handheld/mobile devices. Ensures all customer inquiries and complaints are handled effectively; engages customer service and collections departments to thoroughly address any themes as needed. Directs the end-of-day Driver Check-in/Out procedures: dispatch weigh tag review, weigh tag edits, one-off charge confirmation, tablet in/out, and route submission. Oversees and manages route data to ensure tools and systems are current. Reviews driver notes and makes updates to route sequencing as applicable. Update customer latitude/longitude information for accurate routing. Monitors driver (resource optimization) and inventory (carts, vehicles, containers) capacity to ensure proper utilization and supply levels. Manages work to ensure safe, efficient, effective, and compliant operations. Analyzes KPIs and metrics to understand trends and look for root causes. Uses direct reporting team to react to opportunities with a sense of urgency. Generates and analyzes operational reports and makes recommendations as appropriate. Follow up and resolve any process-related issues when required. Provides employees with the tools, instruction, and feedback to complete daily duties to meet or exceed set operational KPIs. Collaborates with employees and oversees the execution of procedures to maximize productivity and efficiency. Meets with employees daily to ensure consistent communication and regularly reviews best practices. Ensures policies, guidelines, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements (as applicable) are followed. May participate in community and business meetings and events on behalf of the company. Interacts with the union as appropriate, such as grievances and arbitrations. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
One year of progressive leadership and project management experience in route technology, auditing, and editing is preferred. Thorough understanding of routing, dispatch, auditing, and customer service. Experience working with data from public and private sources. Strong analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written. Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications. Experience supervising non-exempt working operations, ideally commercial drivers and dispatchers. Principles of employee training, supervision, and evaluation. Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning, and budgeting. Commercial Driver’s License preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.RECOLOGY OFFERS:
